Wadsworth Magnet School for High Achievers is an elementary school in the DeKalb County School System offering students in fourth through sixth grade an enriched version of the DeKalb County Elementary and Middle School Curriculum.

Students are selected through a lottery system conducted by the DeKalb County Board of Education Magnet Office.

Open Enrollment information can be found on the School Choice page of the DeKalb Schools website. The application window is from January 11-February 19, 2016.

***Rising 6th Graders will need to bring to the School:  
- Copy of 2015-2016 ITBS
- Copy 2015 GA Milestones for Math

Selection Process

Students are selected to attend Wadsworth through an application and lottery system conducted by the DeKalb County Magnet Office. In order to qualify, students must meet all of the following requirements:

Reside in the Dekalb County School District
  • Completed an application
  • 3.0 (or higher) core subject grade point average on the 2015 - 2016 fall report card
  • 2014-2015 or 2015-2016 Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS) or another 2014-2015 or 2015-2016 norm-referenced standardized test (i.e., Stanford 10, California Achievement Test (CAT), Metropolitan Achievement Test (MAT))
  • 75th percentile (or higher) reading score
  • 75th percentile (or higher) math total
  • 85th percentile (or higher) complete composite score

*Standardized test scores must be submitted one week prior to the selection process to be eligible for the lottery (random drawings).
